Meet the Continuum Health Communications team members
An entrepreneur by heart, Terri is the founder and president of Continuum. She has been in the healthcare communications business for more than 30 years, working both on her own and at some of the world’s leading agencies consulting for top pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, and Genentech.
A seasoned corporate communications counselor and product marketing expert, Terri optimizes the communications continuum to help clients achieve their business goals among each of their target audiences. A primary interest for Terri remains advocacy relations. She attributes it to the “thrill and satisfaction” of building strong working relationships between patient organizations and industry to create innovative and award-winning campaigns that make a difference in the lives of patients. Terri’s strategic thinking and creative programming have impacted patients in a variety of disease areas, including oncology, neurology, respiratory, autoimmune diseases, ophthalmology, cardiology, hematology, endocrinology, children’s health, women’s health, and pulmonology.
In 2012 Terri was named to the PharmaVoice 100 most influential in the industry. She has lectured in numerous industry and academic settings about the link between patient advocacy and drug, diagnostic, and device development, including as a guest lecturer at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She is a recent graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.
Lori has spent the better part of her 20-year career helping pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies achieve their corporate and product communications goals. She is a laser-focused strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling through positioning and messaging, content development, and integrated, ROI-based programming that inspires consumer and professional audiences to take action.
Lori is a valued and trusted advisor, who questions the status quo when she feels her clients can achieve more. Throughout her career she has worked through diverse business challenges and market-changing events across the product lifecycle. Her activities and accomplishments have ranged from establishing the value proposition of an early stage compound, to managing regulatory and data milestones, to reinvigorating mature brands. Lori also has comprehensive therapeutic category experience, having worked in a variety of disease areas including neurology, cardiology, pain management, metabolic health (obesity), women’s health, and rare diseases.
Lori graduated from Rutgers University and lives in Santa Monica, California.
Renee is a core team member at Continuum, ensuring media remains a central communications artery for all client messaging. Her holistic view of client business and methodical approach to media relations has established her as a go-to resource for reporters and a strategic partner to healthcare clients for more than 20 years.
Renee is an agile media specialist, with prowess in business, consumer, and trade press. She creates and executes on paid, earned, shared, and owned (PESO) media plans, and has the unique ability to be just as comfortable pitching data and regulatory milestones as patient education campaigns.
In light of today’s 24-hour news cycle, Renee works hard to keep clients relevant outside of hard news by tracking editorial calendars, leveraging breaking news, engaging with key reporters on social media, and realizing untapped media angles and opportunities. She has secured top placements for clients in Time, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Today Show, Bloomberg, Wired, the Dow Jones, BioCentury, Fierce Biotech, and many more.
Laura has been in healthcare communications for more than 20 years as both a trusted agency executive as well as an in-house communications specialist at some of the largest life science companies.
At Continuum, Laura combines her keen knowledge of the healthcare industry with her passion for writing, and serves as the content specialist for the firm. In this role, Laura spearheads writing projects big and small, including white papers, op-eds, blogs, and press releases, and helps create content syndication strategies to maximize reach. She prides herself on taking on her client’s persona when writing in their voice.
Laura began her career on the account side, managing key opinion leader relationships and internal, patient, policy, and crisis communications in a variety of therapeutic areas including genetic testing, women’s health, gastroenterology, neurology, and cardiology.
Leslie Carmena Walden
Leslie’s lengthy career in broadcast journalism has given her a unique window into how people think and relate. Since joining Continuum, Leslie has tapped into this knowledge to help lead the agency’s patient advocacy efforts. Her work is focused on evolving patients into ambassadors, and includes identification and vetting, honing storytelling skills for speaking events and media activities, orchestrating message syndication across channels, and ongoing relationship management.
Leslie’s work in three different television markets over 12 years resulted in an Edward R. Murrow Award, an Emmy Award and the Florida Associated Press Award for Best Newscast. She has also been honored with an additional seven Emmy Award nominations.
Peter is a passionate storyteller who delivers breakthrough media relations programs for emerging and established healthcare and technology companies. His forte is developing and delivering ownable narratives and messages that resonate with the media, as well as creating and executing influencer relations programs across earned, owned and social channels.
Over the past 20 years, Peter has earned a reputation and established solid media relationships through his work on thought leadership initiatives, word-of-mouth and influencer programs, education and awareness campaigns and social engagement activities.
Peter holds a BA and an MA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and resides in West Hollywood, California.
